PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE IS CRITICAL FOR ALL UPS SYSTEMS!!

The vast majority of UPS system problems and service calls are related to WEAK OR DEAD BATTERIES! (Our data indicates approx. 85% of all service issues.)

Given the business critical function of a UPS system, your batteries are the front line of protection in the event of a power failure or brownout. Don’t be LULLED into a false sense of security that your batteries are fine just because you do not see any red lights or hear any warning beeps!! Or, for that matter, believing that during your once a year Preventative Maintenance, your system actually received a proper battery/system test?

THE METRO DIFFERENCE:

Our Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) include:

1) INITIAL BATTERY INSPECTION: Physical battery conditions and voltages are checked prior to any system testing. If the batteries do not pass this initial inspection, no further battery tests will conducted at this time. Recommendations and options will be discussed with customer.

2) VOLTAGE ”LINE LOSS” SIMULATION TEST: With customer consent, we simulate an A.C. “line loss” to the UPS. Testing (loading) the batteries this way yields the most accurate measurements of the batteries in your system. Depending on your battery string(s), we run this test long and deep to help weed out bad batteries BEFORE they become a problem. PREVENTION IS THE BEST PROTECTION FOR YOUR SYSTEM!

3) ALTERNATE BATTERY TESTING PROCEDURE: If the above is not
possible, or if the customer chooses not simulate an A.C. line loss, we
individually load test each battery (if accessible) for function and reliability.

4) COOLING FAN INSPECTION: Check and clean cooling fans. Replace if necessary.

5) GENERAL UNIT INSPECTION: Inspect printed circuit boards (PCB’s), check and tighten wire connections if necessary, clean ventilation ports.

INCREASING BATTERY LONGEVITY SAVES YOU MONEY!

In addition to weeding out bad batteries before they become a problem, good UPS batteries need to be discharged and recharged to help maximize their longevity. Maximizing battery longevity SAVES YOU MONEY! Because of our cost saving prices, companies can afford to have their system checked out more often and thus
be assured that their system is truly ready to back them up when needed.
